The College attempts to provide extracurricular activities for students since the College believes that such activities contribute to the overall growth and educational development of an individual. Students are expected to exhibit high standards of responsible citizenship during all College functions whether on or off campus. The Division of Student Services encourages and helps conduct a program of student activities. The student activity program is a part of the educational experience available to all students. Admission to all student activities shall be non-discriminatory.
Recognized Student Clubs and Organizations
Only officially recognized student clubs and organizations shall be allowed to function on the College’s campus. In order to achieve recognition, the applying club or organization must complete an official application, on file with the Student Engagement Coordinator, and receive approval by the SGA, the Dean of Student Services and the Executive Vice President.
Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society
The Southeastern Community College Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and dedication within the nursing profession. Members exemplify professionalism and a commitment to lifelong learning while actively engaging in service and leadership opportunities both on campus and in the community. The society honors outstanding students in the Associate Degree Nursing Program who demonstrate integrity, academic achievement, and a passion for advancing the field of nursing.
Ambassador Program
The SCC Ambassador Program is a select group of students who represent the college at special events on campus and in the community. All ambassadors have completed a successful interview with the selection committee, have at least a 3.0 GPA, participate in a special leadership training class, and serve the college 3-5 hours each week.
Athletics: Baseball & Softball
SCC’s intercollegiate sports are men’s baseball and women’s softball, as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association. In addition, the college may offer intramural or club-level sports. Baseball or softball scholarships may be available for student-athletes. Students participating in the College intercollegiate athletic programs shall satisfy the same admissions criteria and academic retention policies as outlined for all students. Participating students must satisfy the eligibility requirements of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) to participate in the athletic program and must meet the same standards of eligibility for financial aid as other students. Student athletes are expected to abide by all College policies and procedures, athletics rules, and regulations. Violations may result in suspension from the college’s athletic program, depending on the offense, and further disciplinary action pursuant to college policy.

Automotive
The Automotive Club is an extension of the Automotive Program. The club allows students to be more active in SGA, campus, and community events, all while being part of a team. Members are expected to follow a code of conduct that exemplifies professionalism and demonstrates stewardship of our program, our college, our community, and the planet.
Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU)
The purpose of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) is to build movements of people who are transformed by Jesus Christ. The student-led movements seek to introduce students to Christ, help them grow in faith, encourage them to passionately live life in a manner consistent with belief in the God of the Bible, and inspire commitment to advancing the purposes of God in the world. The group meets for a time of devotion and prayer. CRU members coordinate the See You at the Pole event and assist with the student Christmas party. All students are welcome to participate.
Carpentry Club
The Carpentry Club is an extension of the Construction Program. The club allows students to be more active in SGA, campus, and community events, all while being part of a team. Members are expected to follow a code of conduct that exemplifies professionalism and demonstrates stewardship of our program, our college, our community, and the planet.
Chess Club
The Chess Club at Southeastern Community College welcomes players of all skill levels—from beginners learning the basics to experienced competitors looking to sharpen their strategy. Members meet regularly to play friendly matches, discuss tactics, and participate in tournaments. The club fosters critical thinking, sportsmanship, and a sense of community through the timeless game of chess.
Cosmetology Club
The Cosmetology Club sponsors educational programs and trips to enhance classroom learning and to promote understanding between cosmetologists and the public. Members may participate in SkillsUSA competitions on local, state and higher levels, where students have the opportunity to earn scholarship monies. A student must be enrolled in a cosmetology program to join this club.
Future Educators Club
The Future Educators Club enhances professional growth and encourages fellowship among current and future teacher leaders. Members promote and advocate for high quality and excellence in care, education, and service for young children, students, and families.
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Club
The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Club provides members with information about current trends in the profession, promotes public awareness of the profession, provides funds for the MLT scholarships, and supports social activities for MLT students. MLT and pre-MLT students are encouraged to join, but the club is open to any student who has an interest in MLT.
National Technical Honor Society
The purpose of this organization is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, and skill development among the future workforce and to reward scholastic achievement in career and technical education and to award scholarships.
Nursing Club
The Nursing Club is a student-led organization dedicated to fostering professional growth, teamwork, and community engagement among nursing students in both the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Programs. The Nursing Club serves as a valuable opportunity for students to connect, give, back, and strengthen their commitment to the nursing profession.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is a national collegiate level academic honor society which recognizes academic excellence of SCC students. College transfer and technical students accumulating a grade point average of 3.5 or better with at least 12 semester hours are eligible for nomination to this prestigious organization. PTK provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service to the campus and community as well as opportunities for financial scholarships. The SCC chapter is the second oldest chapter in the Carolina region and has inducted over 3,000 SCC students into PTK.
Rowdy Rams
The purpose of this club is to support and promote the SCC Softball and Baseball teams and enhance sporting events. Members of the Rowdy Rams will create a spirited and positive atmosphere at softball and baseball games. This club is maintained by the SGA.
SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps students excel by providing educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education in the classroom. SkillsUSA members have the opportunity to compete at local, state, and national levels in a variety of events. Medalists in the events may be awarded scholarships to be used to further their education.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is made up of representatives from the student body. The SGA coordinates and regulates student activities and serves as the student body’s official voice. The president of the SGA is a non-voting member of the college’s Board of Trustees. The SGA is a vital component of student life as it provides a variety of activities for students to participate in; it is the voice of the student body and has paved the way for open lines of communication between students and administration. Students receive practical experience in responsible citizenship through participation in SGA.
Transfer Club
The College Transfer Club provides resources to assist students with their transfer needs. It is a student-led organization where students with like minds can fellowship and experience the transfer process as a unit. In addition to feeding their educational needs, club members commit to helping the community and serving those in need. The college transfer club offers leadership opportunities and is a great addition to your college resume!
Other Student Clubs and Organizations
The College maintains that extracurricular activities compliment the academic programs. Students are encouraged to participate in all phases of the student activities program as long as such participation is consistent with sound educational practices. The following criteria must be considered by clubs who seek recognition as an official College student organization:
- The organization must serve an area of student activity need;
- The membership provisions must not exclude anyone because of his/her race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation;
- The organization must agree to abide by the College’s policies and administrative procedures;
- The organization’s purpose must be compatible with the College’s philosophy and educational objectives; and
- Such other reasonable rules and regulations required by the President.
Fundraising
The President, in consultation with the Dean of Student Services and the Student Engagement Coordinator, shall establish rules and regulations regarding student clubs and organizations’ fundraising activities. In addition to such rules and regulations, student clubs and organizations are limited as follows:
- Raffles. Any non-profit student organization may conduct up to four (4) raffles per year.
- Food. Unless clubs and organizations have prior, written permission from the President or designee, clubs and organizations may only sell pre-packaged food items, professionally prepared food items prepared by a permitted entity, pre-wrapped items and beverages in sealed containers and must comply with all local Health Department regulations. Examples of these items include bottled/canned soft drinks, pre-wrapped sub sandwiches, wrapped/packaged desserts, etc. Muffins or cookies must be pre-packaged.
