Credit for Prior Knowledge, Experience, or Certifications

Southeastern Community College supports learning as a lifelong process and recognizes that knowledge is acquired in many different ways. To promote the recognition of learning outside of the college’s credit curriculum, the president shall establish procedures to award college credit for the relevant and appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities that students acquire outside of the curriculum instruction offered at Southeastern Community College. These procedures should include, but not be limited to, the awarding of college credit for the completion of recognized industry credentials, articulated high school courses, military education and training, national and local proficiency exams, and portfolio assessments.
