Recognition of full-time students who excel in their academic work at SCC includes the following:
- Full-time students who are enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program and who earn a GPA of 3.5 to 3.749 (with no I, D, or F grades) will be recognized on the semester Honors list. Students who earn a GPA for the semester of 3.75 or better under the conditions stated above will be recognized as High Honors.
- Two-year degree students who maintain a cumulative program GPA of at least 3.50 on 12 or more credit hours per semester are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, a national honor society for junior college students.
- Students with a program GPA of 3.5 or above are awarded special recognition during the graduation ceremony. Various divisions may also recognize outstanding students during the SGA Academic Awards Ceremony held each year at the end of the spring semester.
